Kylix® is a brand of Object Pascal compiler released by Borland International for the Linux operating system. It is an attempt to provide the equivalent functionality of their Delphi® brand of Object Pascal for the Microsoft Windows operating system.

Kylix 3 Open Edition

You can still download a freely available copy of Kylix 3 Open Edition from various locations on the internet (for example here).

Neither Borland, CodeGear or Embarcadero has the facility to generate activation keys any more [thanks crippled commercial software vendors]. So all open source projects that used Kylix 3 Open Edition are now stuck. For that reason Graeme made his Open Edition activation key publicly available.

You can download the Kylix 3 Open Edition activation key from any of these URLs (download is 2422 bytes in size).

NOTE:
Kylix 3 is rather hard to install and get working with the latest Linux distros (this issue is only related to the Kylix IDE, not the applications created with it). So it is highly recommended that you rather install Free Pascal Compiler and the Lazarus IDE for any new development work. They are similar to Kylix and Delphi, but a lot more up to date that Kylix. Free Pascal and Lazarus are excellent tools, much easier to install and is Open Source - so will always be available (and thank goodness without activation requirements). There is another cross-platform GUI toolkit you can try with Free Pascal, and it is called fpGUI Toolkit.
