History

Marion Smith is a jack-of-all-trades programmer that has been working in this industry since 1995. He currently works as an independent contractor.

He started out programming in Visual Basic 4 and stayed with that tool up to version 6. When it became apparent that Visual Basic would not become a tool that made a true executable, he started teaching himself Delphi. When Microsoft switched to the .Net Framework, he abandoned Visual Studio all together and started working with Delphi exclusively.

Then with the release of Microsoft Vista, he became so frustrated with the direction of Microsoft that he abandoned their products all together and switched to Linux (Ubuntu). From there it was a natural migration to Lazarus. It is his hope to one day become a prolific contributor to the Lazarus project, and give back to the Open Source community.
